The Devout — MODE UNKNOWN’s UK tribute pick
Beyond the band · Our UK tribute recommendation
For a night of Depeche Mode music with fellow fans, The Devout are MODE UNKNOWN’s UK tribute pick.
The live experience, remembered and reimagined
The Devout describe a show built around both the songs and the atmosphere of Depeche Mode’s live performances. Their approach includes sound design, video and lighting inspired by the band’s classic stage presentation.
Their stated aim is to give longstanding fans a chance to revisit that experience and younger audiences a sense of it for the first time. Their official website lists UK and European shows.

2026 · Black Celebration at 40
An anniversary with atmosphere
The Devout’s 2026 tour marks forty years of Black Celebration. Their announcement promises key tracks from the album alongside a set that reaches into other eras, with staging inspired by Depeche Mode’s live aesthetics.
That is a useful distinction when choosing a show: the announcement describes an anniversary celebration within a wider set, rather than promising a complete album performance in sequence. The band presents the production as a contemporary interpretation of the record’s atmosphere, with vocals, arrangements, lighting and visuals working together.
For MODE UNKNOWN readers, it is a natural companion to the Vault’s story about the space, experimentation and atmosphere behind Black Celebration.

Alan Wilder on The Devout
In a September 2025 interview published on The Devout’s website, Alan Wilder praised the care they take with the sound and presentation of Depeche Mode’s classic period.
“I think your band is remarkable and I urge anyone to go and see The Devout perform.”
Alan Wilder, interviewed by The Devout, September 2025
The conversation goes beyond a recommendation. It explores music technology, experimentation, archival equipment and what makes a tribute performance convincing. Wilder discusses the combined effect of songs, sounds and visuals—an interesting perspective for anyone who enjoys the production stories in our Vault.

A night that becomes a memory
The best reason to go to a gig is often the people you share it with. If a Depeche Mode song has become part of your own story, there is a place for it in our fan memory collection.
Editorial recommendation by MODE UNKNOWN, an independent fan project. “Our UK tribute pick” is our opinion, not an award or a claim of endorsement by Depeche Mode. Background checked against The Devout’s own introduction, 11 September 2026.
