A collector’s route through the catalogue

Collecting begins with the music, but the object carries a second history: where it was pressed, how it was packaged, what appeared on the other side and what changed between countries. Artifacts is a route through vinyl, compact discs, cassettes, box sets, tour paper and fan-club material—not a promise that every listing is what a seller claims.

Identify the edition before the price

Start with the catalogue number, country, format and year. For vinyl, compare label design and matrix or run-out information. For boxed or multi-part releases, check that inserts, sleeves and every disc are present. A scarce title in poor or incomplete condition is not the same object as a complete copy.

The band’s official discography archive is the first reference point for formats and track lists. Marketplace descriptions are useful leads, not primary evidence.
