Goodnight Lovers: the red vinyl that travelled
The UK release and imported German vinyl tell different parts of the same story.
An edition can cross a border
The official archive lists the UK CD single for 11 February 2002. It explains that no UK vinyl edition was pressed; German red-vinyl twelve-inch copies were imported. The UK sleeve’s Made in Germany statement is identified as misleading, while the German edition carries Made in E.U. A manufacturing line alone is therefore not enough to settle which edition you have. [1]
A compact listening sequence
The UK CD pairs Goodnight Lovers with When the Body Speaks in an acoustic version, an Electronicat remix of The Dead of Night and isan’s Falling Leaf Mix of the title song. Our suggestion is to play the sequence intact. Notice whether the closing remix feels like a return or a departure after the two middle tracks.
What colour cannot tell you
Red vinyl is immediately visible; a release territory requires more attention. That contrast is part of collecting’s appeal. Start with the striking object, then check its catalogue details and track listing. An imported record can belong completely to your memory of buying music in Britain while remaining a German edition. Personal history and discographical history do not have to be identical.
